Aluminium cutting thickness at Shug

We laser cut aluminium up to 2 mm thick. We also cut mild steel up to 10 mm and stainless steel up to 3 mm. Send your drawing and required thickness so we can check whether the design suits our equipment before quoting.

Prepare a drawing at the finished size

Supply a vector drawing at 1:1 scale, preferably in millimetres. We accept AI, EPS, DWG and DXF files, with DXF preferred. Keep only the parts and cut paths in the drawing; remove dimensions, borders, unused objects and duplicate lines. Specify the quantity when quoting rather than copying the same part many times into the file.

Convert text to outlines. For a stencil or sign, connect internal shapes with bridges where those pieces need to stay attached. Read our laser cutting design guidelines for examples of scaling, bridges and closed contours.

What affects the quote?

Your material, thickness, quantity and drawing details help us assess the job. Designs with many small cut-outs require more piercings and cuts; simplifying unnecessary detail can help reduce complexity.
