Laser Cutting in Melbourne's Eastern Suburbs

Suburbs we serve

Looking for a laser cutter close to home in Melbourne’s east? Shug Fabrication & Design is a local laser cutting and metal fabrication workshop at 167 Manchester Road, Mooroolbark. We cut mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium for tradies, makers, small businesses and manufacturers across the outer east, with fast turnaround and a personal service.

Our Mooroolbark workshop is a short drive from much of the outer east. We regularly help customers from:

  • Mooroolbark and Chirnside Park
  • Lilydale and Mount Evelyn
  • Croydon and Kilsyth
  • Bayswater and Boronia
  • Ringwood

We also work with customers across greater Melbourne and beyond. Upload your files online and we’ll quote wherever you are. Most customers collect from our Mooroolbark workshop. Delivery can be arranged in advance.

Why use a local laser cutter?

  • Talk to the person doing the cutting. James (Shug) Strachan has worked in metal fabrication all his life, with experience in welding, fabrication, CAD design and metal art. You can talk through your job directly.
  • Fast turnaround. Almost always within 1–5 working days.
  • No job too small. Small and medium jobs are our speciality, from a single bracket to a short production run.
  • Help with your project. Need a sketch turned into a cutting file, or advice on thickness? We can help.

More than laser cutting

As well as laser cutting, Shug offers design engineering, CAD 2D and 3D drawings, prototyping, custom metal fabrication and MIG welding, from jig making to production work. We don’t currently offer bending, painting or powder coating, but we know local businesses in the east who do, and we’re happy to pass on their details.
